1) What is the highlighted bit in the URL part of the browser? At the moment overclockers.co.uk is black and the rest is coloured in grey...

2) Facebook. Something about cookies. How do i fix it? I tried to override it with the 1st and 3rd party cookies on Internet Options but hasn't worked.

Thanks.

1) its so you know which site you on, for people who follow links to dodgy sites to put there bank details in. So you know you not on you bank website.

The highlighted bit is the domain name.

I guess it is designed to stop sites emulating others so say www.nationwide.dfeffd.com will highlight the true domain name.

EDIT: Beaten

SideWinder,

Hi, my name’s Feran and I’m working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team to provide assistance and help answer questions people might have about Internet Explorer.

The highlighting is actually a security feature. IE 8 highlights the domain name in the URLs you visit, making it easier to recognize a phishing scam!

I've seen a couple volunteers from the Internet Explorer Outreach Team on these forums now. Welcome Feran.

Have you heard of any other complaints regarding Facebook users having problems with cookies under IE8?

Thank you. I actually have not heard of anyone having this kind of issue with Facebook and cookies in IE8. I have heard - as you said in an earlier post – of people having rendering issues in Facebook using IE8, but enabling the Compatibility View setting will fix this.

I will ask around and see if I can find out anything if you’d like.

Sidewinder – the more specific you can be about what exactly is happening and what computer and operating system you are using, the more likely I will be able to help out.

Thanks!
-Feran
