Is there an app that would search the internet for images according to predetermined criteria (e.g. movies, sports, current affairs, science, etc.) and automatically set them as your desktop background changing them as and when you desire (either manually or on some sort of timer)?

You could perhaps setup an Automator script to run at scheduled time in ical to pop onto a website/url download the image to a folder then use the randomise feature of the desktop part of system preferences to change the image every hour etc.?
