random large mouse pointer??

probably not the right place to post this, sorry

but, any1 come across this. randomly my mouse icon/pointer changes to being very large. checked in the mouse pointer settings, nothing wrong there. googled and found a mention about problems with drivers for the sapphire hd5770 so updated from ati website. but its still happhening, also found a google mention about updating bios, but not keen on that as i've heard it can go disasterously wrong if ya dont know what your doing.....and i definitely dont!

any hints as to a fix

running windows 7 64bit, ga-p55a-ud3 board

just discovered if i load a game up and sut it down mouse pointer returms to normal size temporarily??

Stupid question but is your resolution correct? If you've set the game to the correct resolution, but the windows res is too small, the pointer would return to the correct size before enlarging again after exiting a game.

The 9.12 hot fix drivers say they fix this problem, it is a driver error:

or you could try downloading the new 10.1 drivers and see if they fix the problem

any1 any other tips, just turned on the pc and it happened again. sorely tempted to go down the road of flashing bios.......but feeling the fear?!?!

What driver did you download and install ?
I too had that issue on a Asus 5770, and the 9.12 hotfix drivers fixed it for me(as linked in Deano's post ). If you have installed newer drivers I would suggest removing them first, restarting and then trying these

It's because you have a Windows7/p55 mobo/HD5xxx card combo. This thread was discussed two days ago, i've put a fix in there for it:

If as you say you don't want to update BIOS (its very simply by the way) then you can enable Pointer Trails in mouse settings, and set the trails to very lowest and it puts the cursor back to small, however the trail is still noticable. Just update the BIOS using q-flash on your board, does it all for you. Just remember to take photos/notes on any OC settings you have if you want to replicate them after the flash

Ahh, thanks dude. Bios flash it is then
