Random Lock ups and Graphical Issues

Since I have bought my new 4870 I keep getting lock ups (cant Ctrl+Alt+Del) computer does absolutely nothing. Audio gets stuck in a constant droan. This happens during games, overclocked or not. Have set fan speed to 40%, temps are around 50c idle and not much above 70c under load. Also when resuming the computer from stand by, the desktop has lines going through it.

Im using catalyst 8.8 drivers, latest BIOS and drivers for the mobo and Vista x64.

I've also tried uninstalling driver, using driver cleaner and installing different versions of drivers and also formatted HDD but still the same prob.

Any ideas?

Try the 8.9 betas.
Run rig at stock if not allready doing so.
Update mobo BIOS and see if that helps.
