Random lockups with my 8800GTX in UT3

Hey guys,

My friend was playing UT3 on my new rig earlier and it looked proper nice with maxxed up detail on 1900x1200. Thing is, every so often it would lock up for about 5 seconds and then just carry on again for ages.

Does this sound like a graphics card issue or something else? always carried on again fine and ran nice and smooth aswell, just these random lockups every now and then.

its an OcUK 8800GTX, running with a Q6600, 4 gig ram, vista 64

Ask him to try the new Nvidia 169.28 drivers.

I'm getting random lockups and crashes with my 8800GTX in UT3 as well, and that's with the 169.28 drivers. I think the game might be a bit unstable at the moment - hopefully future patches will help.

Same problem here too.

Updated to those drivers today, still doing it, or even worse, has crashed to desktop too.

I, I get those issues too with my BFG 8800 GTS 512MB Card. I get all sorts of random errors with my card all driver related IMO. World of Warcraft I get weird effects on the screen (See another thread here about it).

Sometimes the PC won't get past POST.

I use Vista 64 Ultimate with 4GB Ram and the ASUS P5K-Premium

UT3 is CPU demanding there for may raise temps a little more than usual.

I'd say run orthos/Prime 95 and make sure the chip is stable and isn't overheating.

Apart from the above the games is extremley buggy, The game has crashed to desktop at least 20 times for me so far and certain maps feel laggy also.

Ah seems like a common issue then and not a dodgy card in my system, makes me feel a bit better
