Hi all,
Recently bought an iPhone 4S from the online Apple store and have noticed an issue with my phone. Sometimes I will lose signal completely and my phone will remain as having "No Service", I then have to reboot the phone again for it to resume working. There is no specific condition in which the problem can be reproduced, it seems to happen at random.

I've cleaned and reseated the SIM card, done a DFU firmware upgrade to 5.0.1 but it seems to have made no difference. I'm currently using Giffgaff which utilises the O2 network. Has anybody else suffered these issues with the 4S? I never had this problem with my iPhone 4. :(

I'll be pretty miffed if I have to replace the phone already as I've just chucked an expensive screen protector on it!

Ah thanks for that! Never noticed that article on my searches. Glad I'm not the only one with the issue then. It doesn't happen often but when it does it's rather annoying. I suspected it might be a software issue which is why I have held back from getting a replacement for now. Really hope Apple resolve this problem soon. :(

You can probably fix the issue quicker if you turn airplane mode on and then off again, could be worth a try.

Been suffering with this more and more since iOS 5,0,1, it also seems to be draining what was a pretty perfect battery before, so far I have tried

Reseating SIM
Turning airplane mode on off
Factory resetting phone
Resetting network setting
Restoring from iCloud
Restoring from iTunes
Manually selecting mobile network
Turing on airplane mode, rebooting phone and then turning airplane mode off.

Hoping to see iOS 5.0.2 out this week with a fix else I will have to return phone to apple on Saturday along with my noisy 2011 mac mini

Think i have now fixed the issue plaguing my 4s. I have done a full factory reset and phone erase and then set the phone us as a new device and manually synced apps/music and pictures across. I had to re enter my setting and lost my text message but in 20 hrs i have not had a "Sim Failure" which prior to this one of happened 4- 5 times by now.
