Hey all,

I recently upgraded the majority of my PC (motherboard, CPU / cooler, RAM, Graphics)

Intel Core i3-530
Corsair XMS 1,333MHz 4g (2x2g) RAM
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H motherboard
Gigabyte HD 5770 ATI Graphics card

The initail problem I was having was that upon booting the PC, about 2 seconds into the bios my computer completly powerd off..?
I then discoverd that it was the graphics card causing this..as I removed the card and rebooted from the onboard graphics and it worked fine.
I tryed switching over PCI-E slots...and same thing happend.
I then put back my OLD Nvidia graphics card into the PCI-E slot and that works fine ...so its definatly up to the graphics card..
I dont even have the chance to enter bios, it shuts down that quick...or sometimes it doesnt even get to the bios...it just stays a completly blank screen..

And also a small problem im having now (while running all the new gear, but with my old graphics card) My computer will do
random power offs.....for no reason and with no warning....almost asif a powercut..??

I know its not CPU temp thats causing it, as its still running very cool...

Any suggestions with that issue too??

Any feedback will be very much appreciated!

Its a coolerMaster eXtreme Power Duo 650w

I think it was a bit of a budget buy (about £20-30 at the time) about 2 years ago while i was in hong kong. Has run my current PC fine (up untill now!). I did intially think it could be the PSU...but thorght i best get a 2nd opinion before I splash out..

Let me know if your after any specific information about the PSU..

Many thanks

Do it the old fashioned way! Get a multimeter and check it is providing the correct voltage and it is not fluctuating too much.

Ok :)

While were on the subject..any recomendations for a new PSU to comfortably run this setup...without invaiding the bank account too much..?

You'd expect a 36Amp 12v PSU to be able to cope with that setup. 36A is over 400 Watts of 12v power.

Are you overclocking anything?

Nah im not overclocking..

I just did a swap test into my brothers high spec PC...and it ran ok....so I presume it is a PSU issue...

you sure you have the power connectors set correctly to the graphics card? I'd check if the card is securely sitted in the PCI-e slot. Failing that, the card could be busted, or some issues with the PCI-e slot.

I did consider that, but like i said, i tryed both PCI-E slots. Connected, reconnected...

And then connected my old graphics card which works (so cant be the slot..)...
and then the card works in my brothers PC (so cant be the card)
