Random reboot - how do I investigate the cause?

I was happily playing V Rising this morning when my PC simply crashed to a black screen and then rebooted.

I know this is hardly unique when it comes to PC's but it's the first time it's happened to me in literally years and so I was wondering what the best way was to see if I can find the cause of the crash?

I went to the event viewer but in all honesty I don't even know where to look in there or even what the various events mean!

Event viewer > Windows logs > System

Look for any "critical" event around the time of the crash. The error code should give you some idea of what happened.

If it's too vague, keep an eye on your gpu and cpu temps (with it being summer and all).

It could be just a one off though or it could be any other reason. It's difficult to diagnose the issue without knowing your pc specs. Could be a failing psu for all i know.

Hope this helps.
