Random resetting problem

My current specs are: i7 920 (previously overclocked by overclockers to 4Ghz but now turned off afaik) | Noctua NHU12P (i think) Cooler | Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Mobo | Corsair XMS3 6Gb tri-channel RAM | MSI GTX 570 TwinFrozr 3 | OCZ 780W PSU | CoolerMaster HAF 512 Case

It would reset after 5 mins or so of use (non-intensive i.e. just being left on desktop). Then I cleaned quite a bit of dust out of the Noctua cooler and then it would stay on for 1 ~ 2 hours of just web browsing (or doing nothing), PC gaming less time. I think the overheating may have messed up my CPU because it still resets, though I asked the tech section of PC Gamer Forum and someone there said that he had a similar issue and the cause was his PSU. He also said to try here.

I know my PSU is OCZ and 780W, the model number is OCZ780MXS. I think it's a discontinued one I got off here for about £70. My system is about 2.5 years old (apart from the graphics card). I don't have any parts to swap for to see if any are damaged. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can tell what hardware is going wrong?

Thanks for any help, I'm a tad stuck :)

If it was the CPU overheating you would get throttling rather than a hard reset. Could be an iffy mobo I guess, but most likely the PSU. Get the voltmeter on it.

Thanks! I can pick up a voltmeter for a 10er i've found.

Just no idea what to do or what to look for with it. Could you give me any tips or links (as I guess it would be a lengthy instruction process)?

Thanks again.

Hmm, i'm guessing it would just be a case of watching the voltage on each of the rails whilst it crashes and see if they fluctuate much.

If they do then it's a safe bet the PSU is a dud.
