Random Restarts...

Hi all

My PC has done this a few times since i got it up and running.

Specs;

AMD Athlon 3700
ASRock 939DualSata2
1024Mb Kingston Ram
X800XT-PE

My 3700 overclock was at 2.8Ghz until very recently. At 2.8Ghz it's temps get to about 52c. Thats with a 32c room temp and an arctic freezer pro :/

However when i went to my friends house, it was a lot cooler and it was completely fine. So i guess my first question is can heat make the overclock unstable?

Secondly, can anyone remind me of how to turn the restarts off, so i get left with the error message instead? This might help solve the problem aswell

Yes, extra heat can affect the stability of a computer, although 52 degrees isnt dangerous for a processor, its quite high for an AMD chip. (AMD is 'safe at 70, but might not be stable ).

Whats the rest of the cooling for your computer, If your room temperature is higher, then increasing the airflow through your case may be enough to get the system stable.

My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced Tab >> Startup and Recovery >> Settings >> Uncheck Automatically restart.

Whats the rest of the cooling for your computer,

It's all inside a superlan boy with 2x 120mm fans, the gpu has a zalman vf900, and i'm using a seasonic s12.

Like when it BSOD?

My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced Tab >> Startup and Recovery >> Settings >> Uncheck Automatically restart.

Well, thats certainly sounds like a more than sufficient cooling system, Assuming those fans arnt the 1000rpm ultra quiet ones, even at 120mm the cfm of some of the lowest speed fans is a little weak.

Good PSU, that should be more than up to the job.
