Random Restarts

Hey guys,

This issue is really beginning to annoy me. It first started when I installed Windows 7 Beta last year. Completely random restarts, no BSOD, no error message, just a black screen and then reboot. I figures it was just W7 BETA and that it would all be fine when I got the full version, but no. I now have the full retail version of Windows 7 and the issue remains.

Here's the strange thing. It does it within 20 mins of booting, either while booting, or once in windows. I can be doing something and then it goes, on reboot it can maybe restart a couple of times while booting and then get into Windows for a few minutes and then it goes. After a random number of these reboots it will remain stable for days, even weeks (I don't turn my PC off), and the problem is apparently away. The only time the issue returns is when I need to reboot the PC, and then this damn annoying cycle of rebooting returns. Sometimes it will be stable after 2 reboots, other times it will be a lot more (This is my 3rd attempt at writing this post after about 30 reboots since last night).

I have checked event viewer, noting in there except Kernel Power errors which I assume to be because the PC is being restarted without being shutdown properly. I have taken the PC to bits, cleaned every component and re-assembled. I have reset CMOS to defaults to no avail.

Any ideas????

My first thought would be ram.Have you tried with just 1 stick?Ran Memtest?
Second guess would be power supply, can you swap to a different on to try?

That was happenning to me, i had a virus on my pc so not sure if it is the same for you, it kept restarting then my pc would not pick up disk drives so in the end i used an old ghardrive and it was fine :D
