Just completed a new build. Everything seemed to work out OK apart from the raid controller not working well with windows. However there is a problem. The PC keeps rebooting/freezing after a random amount of time.

If the PC is off for a while it takes a bit longer, so it would suggest it is overheating somewhere, but the GPU temp seems fine, the CPU temp seems fine and the system temp seems fine.

Any ideas?

Q9450 CPU, 280GTX, 750W Corsair PSU, 2x2GB OCZ DDR3 Memory, Asus Striker II Mobo, 1xWD Raptor as system, 2 x Seagate 1TB as data.

World of Warcraft seems to be able to get it to crash pretty quickly.

Taken everything out, reseated everything, reasonable air flow in case. Bit stuck now to be honest.

what about ram voltages ? ram probslems manifest ans completlyt random crashes and reboots.

check the voltage the ram requires on the packet and then check what its getting in the bios quite often bios default can be to low.

I will check that, thanks for the tip. Thought it might have been one dodgy stick as it lasted 40mins without a crash with one stick out. Then it crashed.

It might be worth downloading mem-test to double check your memory for errors, and perhaps hard drive diagnostic tools from WD.

Changed the RAM voltage from Auto to 1.8v, will see what that does to stability. Will go and get the HDD tools and mem-test. Both sticks passed MS's Memory Test.

After changing the voltage on the ram to 1.8v things seem stable, been running almost 2 hours without a crash, so thanks for the help. CPU-Z seems to think that the motherboard wants the RAM at 1.5v which could explain the problem!
