Random Sound Issue

Hi,

Just re-installed Tiger Woods 2004 (yes ancient I know but the last good version imo) and I have a weird problem.

Boot into winows, browse the web and play MP3's as you do and everything is fine.

Run the game and the speakers make some popping sounds and the sound goes off for the game. Comes back on as soon as I quit :/

Tried closing all sound related apps and trying again, usual reboot/undo last install and things like that but nothings working.

Running Vista 32 on an Opty 165/2GB RAM/7800GT/HDA X-Mystique.

It has worked on this machine before bar the fact Vista was then XP. It also runs fine on my dads PC?!

Are you using a Creative X-Fi card and possibly an Nvidia Nforce chipset? Either of the previous, get the latest drivers from their respective website.

Updated to latest game patch?

Vista SP1?

XP Compatability Mode / Run as Admin?

A few ideas, some more likely to work than others. You may well have tried some of them but I think its worth mentioning them.
