Random things you've discovered about your Mac/Macbook

In Safari doing CMD+<number> will open sites from the bookmark bar, e.g. CMD+1 will open the first site listed. +2 the second etc.

You can remove/reorder (some) icons from the menu bar by clicking on them with command held down and dragging them.

Dragging a file or folder into an open/save dialog box will change the location to that of the file/folder.

Hold Alt + Shift when using the volume keys and you can adjust in finer increments than the squares.

Aye. Also

ALT+Sound Up or Sound Down=Sound pane from preferences
SHFT+Sound UP/Down=Ups/downs sound without the clicks

Handy if you swap input/outputs between devices.

Some quality tips in this thread, love the ones about the games and getting terminal to talk :)

Sure everyone knows this but CMD + ESC bring up front row

Just found something that's pretty neat on google chrome:

Hold down cmd + hover the mouse over a java applet and you can drag the applet out of chrome and into a window of its own. Very neat for those little java apps you work with regularly :)

Lots of useful shortcuts here!

Are there any touch gestures for switching between tabs? Keyboard shortcuts? This is in Safari.

I also use Quicksilver and have that bound to double-tap CMD, very quick and useful. For example, double-tap CMD and type FA and it takes me to Facebook.

Also, any quick way to go to the google search bar in Safari?

Command + Shift + Left/Right Arrow Keys or Command + Shift + [ or ] also switches between tabs in Safari. Along with Control + Tab to cycle through them.

Cmd Alt F gets you to the search box in Safari.

I love keyboard shortcuts. It's a great feeling to scoot around the whole OS with minimal mouse usage.

Didn't know that one. By force of habit I use CMD & L then Tab, even though I know a different shortcut now I know I won't be able to teach myself out of the other way.

Thanks!

Pause/Play/Forward/Rewind buttons work in most applications, even Spotify as I just found out!

Spaces and Exposé is amazing.

Go to System Pref, hold "Option" key and click on Display. A rotate dropdown now appears and you can rotate your screen orientation :)

Option+Click on the Airport icon shows more info about the AP you're currently associated with.

Terminal.app supports tabs (really handy if you have multiple ssh / telnet sessions open).

Command + T during bootup = target disk mode for firewire.
