Random websites won't load ??

What browser you running ?

Anti virus software ?

Anti spyware ?

Router firewall on ?

Windows firewall ? other firewall ?

any pattern ie works at a certain time then not at others ?

Does this happen often or just today? It could be a problem with aol's dns, it should sort itself out after a little while,

try this: http://212.140.181.233 tesco website without dns, if it works you know it's a problem with aol's dns

I had this problem and I ended up buying a new router which solved it.
There was probably a better work around but I was in the market for a new one anyway.

sounds like aols dns is playing up, tried using opendns?

http://www.opendns.com

try changing DNS on local machine to:

208.67.222.222 (resolver1.opendns.com)
208.67.220.220 (resolver2.opendns.com)

Remember to make note of old dns servers, probably 192.168.1.1 or similiar, for when you have finished testing and want to revert back.

sorry for the slow reply guys, been pretty busy with work.

Ok, yesterday evening everything was working fine once again, all good I thought, up until about an hour ago. I'm once again unable to access a number of websites inluding the three that I posted in my original post.

Haven't messed around with MTU settings etc, 3 machines that access the internet through the wireless router and all suffering the same problem.

Performed ping, tracert and nslookup test on websites I'm unable to access and I get replys from them all ????

Tried alternative DNS server too, no joy.

Cheers Guys

yeah, no go mate. Think im slowly getting to the bottom of it. Appears to be a MTU issue, manually changing the MTU to 1400 in Vista makes everything work again.
