Ranged weapons in WoW help please

Please help me, this is doing my head in. :mad:

Im having a little bit of trouble in this 10 day trial and it seems the server I have joined is either full of noobs like my self or just very unhelpfull gamers.

I have a night elf warrior at lvl 12 now and cant for the life of me get him to use ranged weapons. I have been to a warrior trainer and received the bow training, I have equiped a bow that requires lvl 11, and have bought arrows and they appear in the ammo slot, also have a small quiver. It is also in weapon slot 2 along the bottom of the screen.
Yet i cant seem to get him to use it, always draws his mace out. The only time he appears to draw the bow out is when you hit the sheath weapon button, but when i try to attack something it switches straight back to the mace (with no animation).

Am I totally mising something here?

You need to add the ranged auto attack button to your tool bar (I think, been a while since I played a character with a bow/gun).

Button two will only equip the weapon.

You need to use the 'Shoot' icon to fire your bow.You can find it in the 'General' tab of your spell book...just drag the icon to your toolbar.Having said that you'll need to click the icon every time you want to shoot the bow,and it will only fire if the enemy is more than 8 yards away from you.Therefor useful for pulling and extra stats some ranged weapons can give but not really for general fighting (Hunters are different..they get a lot more utility out of ranged weapons as they are considered a 'ranged' class)

Cheers but Nope, thats what i was trying, it does highlight weapon slot 2 but doesnt equip the bow. Tried clicking it also, nadda. I just cant figure it out at all.

Ive just noticed there is a very slight green border around the weapon slot 2, does that mean anything?

Ah man, thank you so much, you have saved my sanity. Thats working a treat now.

Cant beleive it was that simple [hangs head in shame]
