I've been Beta testing Office 2007 for a few months and I've been quite happpy with. It really is a nifty office suite. So a couple of week back I saw the Technical Refresh pack (basically an update for the Beta), and I thought wow let's install this and make it even better...
NOT. After installing a lot of my important Word documents refused to open, saying that the Admin (i.e. me) had blocked access to them. There is a KB article on it; apparently it doesn't open documents created in the previous Beta.
WTF?!
What the hell is that all about?! "Oh here's an update for the Beta... but err, all the documents you created previously won't open anymore. Sorry". Worst of all there is no fix or workaround for the problem!!
So I basically thought **** that, and installed OpenOffice. That's the last time I ever do MS a favour by Beta testing.
