RANT AT INCOMPETENT PEOPLE!!!

Argh i'm so angry right now!

I was supposed to get the last results for one of my units back in June time so I could then send them of to Napier Uni in Edinburgh, which means i'd have gotten my letter of acceptance back so I could then apply for student halls.

Well guess what! My course co-ordinator didn't bother to send out the last unit results so on the 20th of July I finally got speaking to someone in the tech and they printed my results of there and then and signed it. Turns out the course co-ordinator just didn't bother to send the last results out to anybody!

This is twice he has messed up the other time was earlier on in the year when he lied to us about referring our UCAS applications which in turn made it over a month late and we only found this out by chance that he hadn't referred it.

So now I can't really apply for student halls in Napier as I have next to no chance of it now and it's on a first come first serve basis. So now I need to find a room to rent in Edinburgh and I just can't afford plane tickets back and forth on easyjet with short notice as it adds up to nearly £200 for the flight and then thats not including accommodation.

So anybody want to put me up in Edinburgh while I view rooms and finally get a place? :(

This is the 2nd complaint letter that i'm going to writing to the tech, but this time i'm enclosing a letter that i'll be sending to the papers to try and get it published as their first response to my letter was awful and no action was taken so hopefully this might make them do something.

But now my search for finding a place in Edinburgh is a lot more expensive and a lot harder. :(

I'm just so angry that he can get away with this and nothing is going to happen to him. :mad:

Unfortunatly you do come across people like that. Shame that they have such influence over your life. Good on you though for taking the effort to write a letter, lets hope the threat of a publishing in the newspaper gets things solved for other students in the future. Shame I don't live in Edinburgh, as I would have offered you a room while you look for a place. Good luck though.
 
Well according to this (I don't know if you've read it or not) there is a definite complaints procedure in place so you need to

Department or Director of the Institute in writing or by telephone. If you
require assistance in making your complaint you should contact a
member of staff in Information & Student Services.

2. Your complaint will be acknowledged in writing within 3 working days
from receipt.

3. Your complaint will be thoroughly investigated and you will be notified

If you are not satisfied with the outcome at the formal stage, you may
appeal preferably in writing within 10 working days, clearly setting out
your grounds for appeal. The appeal should be addressed to the
Director of the Institute.

In the event of an appeal being lodged, the Director will contact the
Governing Body who will review the complaint and the action taken
before making a final decision. The Governing Body will respond to the
complainant normally within 20 working days of the appeal being
received.

Should it not be possible to complete the procedure within the time limit
stated, then the procedure will be completed as soon as possible and
the complainant advised as to the reason(s) for the delay.

If I was you I'd do this. If you don't follow this procedure, they'll just deny knowledge of it, but if you follow it, the guy will have to answer for it. Don't let him get away with and you might just stop someone else being in the same predicament next time.

Thank you so much kitten, I never really thought of looking for a complaints procedure.

The last letter of complaint I wrote I got back a letter within 3 working days. Was just really a general letter saying sorry and we'll look into this.

So it turns out they didn't follow procedure the first time round. I'll have to raise that in my letter.

I'll publish my angry letter tomorrow morning so all can see and offer advice. :)
 
Have you spoken to Napier Uni and explained the situation to them, I'm sure they could still put you down for a place in halls.

If you go to www.skyscanner.net and look for flights to Edinburgh there its pretty easy to find some cheap flights. I found some from Belfast to Edinburgh next month for £30 including taxes.

Yeah i've given a call to Napier regarding the actual application for the course and it it's affected. But i'll probably end up giving them a call anyway on Thursday to find out about it.

Also I called to the Bus Centre today and they have a bus leaving twice daily to Edinburgh for a £35 return. So i'll probably end up taking a few of those along with a good book.

no problem, I'm a seasoned complainer ;) Glad I could help - hope it gets sorted.
 
you be surpised

Nobody from our school and college got sent any certificates when they passed their course, we have to phone up the company that deals with the exam to get them

Same goes when I took my MCP exam, passed that, got the score card, and they didnt bother sending out a certificate.

Whats the point taking GCSEs or getting quailifed when the schools dont even send out the certs?
