[Rant] Do red lights not apply for horses?

I don't think horses or cyclists should be allowed on the road unless they too pay insurance and duty. I find it amazing that parks fine for dog owners not clearing up after their 'pet' yet horses can dump their innards all over the road with no reprisal.

Doesn't dog poo harbour far more dangerous diseases to humans than horse poo? Plus it's a lot harder to spot dog poo and it's often where children play in parks etc. I don't think you can compare the two really.

It's not about being dangerous, it's about being a mess all over the roads. They should clear it all up! If they don't, then there's plenty of fields to ride in..

If you were a motorcyclist you wouldn't agree. Horse poo poses a considerable risk, nuch like all the dirt from tractors. Sure you ride to the conditions of the road but additional risks like this are something car drivers don't think about and therefore accept.

If a horse got spooked and kicked your car, severely damaging it in the process would you be so amible? Or how about a cyclist weaving in an out of traffic, clipping wingmirrors or catching your shiny paintwork? Hence my call for both horse riders and cyclists to have insurance for such instances.
