a quick pronounciation check

the word: RANT

rant as in ran with a t on the end

or

rahnt as in how a southerner would say grant with the g taken off

some southern opinions are vital to this argument

I have always said Rant, as in the first thing you said. Can't say I've heard any other way to say it.

How does a southerner say 'Grant'? Just trying to imagine it in my head but I can't.

I'm a Southerner, and I say Gra(h)nt.

I say rahnt.

very interesting, my monitor just got attacked in excitement at seeing your reply
i'll hold out for a few more

and for the note, i'm a southerner, from cambridge, and i have only ever heard the 1st one until a few weeks ago

Rant, like it should be said. Just a normal, straight rant. Ant with an r :)

In a gay way. Like 'graaarnt'.

it's an argument of quite some contention, so yes i did

I thought the pronunciation would be completely dependant on the region where the speaker spends the majority of their time, e.g a southerner who's lived there most of their life would pronounce it rahnt.

I was only joking :(

Im a southerner and ive never heard anyone say rahnt...the word is pronounced rant...theres no controversy...Its stupid to say rahnt and I dont believe anyone in here who says it that way..

In my head you pronounce it 'rare-ehnt'. As in "Us convicts love to rare-ehnt."

*n

When i say it like that it sounds like its an American Accent from the Southern states :p
