Rant - Pro Evo 2008 Online (360)

I know it might seem like i'm a bit late to the party here but here goes.

I got the game for christmas cos I caned Pro 6 and wanted the next iteration, always liked Pro. I didn't go online cos I heard it was a bit shoddy, but for the last 2 nights i've gone on and OH MY GOD how arse is it!

I just got knobbed 5-2 by a Barca side (i was Inter) whos little network indicator was red half the time, and I couldn't touch him! Henry and Ronny seemed to have glue on their boots; no matter how much i pressured they just ran into my box and shot time and again :mad: The ball seems to jump all over the pitch in a split second and all the players are so jittery.
I had shot which was parried by the keeper into the box and then for some reason awards me a corner?! How?! :confused: Am I playing the same game?

I'm not saying that i'm amazing or anything; i've won 2 games out of 6 but i should have won more than that. I'd love to play these people again over local multiplayer.

There's so many things wrong with this game online (heard it's bad on PS3, too) and I find it shocking that there still isn't a patch for it. Looked on the Konami site and there's a patch for the PC version, why not the consoles? :mad: At the moment it's nigh on unplayable. Grrr.
 
the crazy thing is pro HAS been patched, about 6 weeks after launch. but konami have since buried their heads up each others backsides and ignored the game altogether! there wasn't even a small update following the closure of the transfer window.
 
UEFA 2008 looks and plays really good but I don't think it will be worth the £35-40, especially when GTA is right around the corner. If they sort out the framerate then FIFA 09 could be good.

I bought FIFA 08 and enjoyed it but i can't find any longevity in the FIFA series. Many people love the game here much more than PES but I still think PES has more depth in its gameplay. It's always been a game that I could play for hours everyday if I could. Whereas FIFA I get bored after an hour or so, I know people will disagree with me here but it's just my opinion and many others feel the same about PES :)

PES2008 is utter crap and even though PES6 got badly reviewed I think it was actually a much better game on 360. It had slowdown but the online was incredible (apart from people doing the stupid disconnect glitch and no 2 player). Konami just has to put the effort in for a return to form this year.

They need to change a lot of things but I think most things can easily be changed. I just hope this year they put out a better game this year as I want my pro evo again (like in the good old PS2 days :))

£35 - 40 is well worth the money if it instantly replaces fifa 08, which i can see happening, then its 6 months of gaming heaven, something no other type of game gives me.

Hopefully have it a few days before release if shops start breaking the date.

Unfortunately PES went too far the other way, i never would have thought id only play fifa and give no time at all to a pro evo title, it still shocks me :p
 
Guess I'm one of the few who still thinks PES pwns Fifa all over the place. The online side of it doesn't bother me so much as I play locally mainly.

I've gone full circle, from Fifa fanboy, to PES 4,5,6 fanboy and back to FIFA, I now just chose the game thats the best each year, and as said many times, this year's PES was awful, if they fix it for next year I'll have a look at it
 
Not played PES08 but i found Fifa 08 a really good game. i havent played much of the recent Fifa's but 08 was a really good game and im suprised that PES08 isnt as good
 
Must be kidding me, its extremely weird for me reading all the above. Myself and my circles of friends at work/home/uni are all PES. I dont think I know anyone who owns fifa.

I played the demo of 08 and thought it was as hideous as previous incarnations. The player animations and they way the ball moves, the whole thing looks as unatural as it did back when I used to play FIFA 97.

PES is SO precise and technical, Ive just finished another master league with Sampdoria this time (i stop once i do the treble) and again its better than the previous year.

The online is unforgivable, but living in a house with 4 other lads I tend not to miss it. Local > online anyways.

Its a shame, you are missing out on a better game.
 
I agree tried to play it twice online which is the reason i got it for the 360 unplayable

surprised they have not at least tried to fix can only asume it is either unfixable or the patch they are working on is almost a complete rewrite

just went back to pro evo 6 not tried fifa yet
