Can rapid boost really improve a system with 6 Gigs of memory?

Do you mean ReadyBoost? If so...
With 6 gig of RAM? Not really unless you are doing some mega video editing or encoding, even then, I doubt you'd see much change. I dont know of anyone who uses, in my opinion its a bit of a novalty really.

If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted.

3rd time lucky, i was trying to provide as much info as poss in signature to save faffing about, does this get it across ok?

If you have a spare USB flash drive then give it a go. Just give it a few days to get used to your habits and optimise the cache.

I have 4GB ram and noticed a slight/noticeable improvement with a dedicated 2GB readyboost drive.

I do have a 1GB flash drive, just plugged it in and set up. Will post back in a few days with results.

1Gb will do nothing, I'm using a 16Gb drive with 4Gb of RAM and notice it, but didn't see any improvement with 2Gb

doesnt ready boost only use a maximum of 4Gb ?
