Rapidly disappearing hard drive space

Earlier today, I got a popup bubble telling me that I was running low on space on my HD. I thought this was strange, because yesterday I had around 8GB free.

I checked in windows explorer, and sure enough, I only had 135MB remaining.
I checked again, and that figure was even lower. The hard drive was reporting less and less available space, dropping down to about 2MB.

I rebooted, and the disk space went back up to 8GB, but started dropping steadily again.

I've tried googling, but I can't find anything on the subject. Ran Spybot and Adaware, but it's still happening,

Any help would be much appreciated.

Not wanting to state the obvious but you need to find out what's using the space.

Try using a copy of Treesize Pro or something similar to see which folder is growing. The fact that the space is freed up at reboot suggests that it's temp files which makes it a bit trickier to determine what the root cause is.
