Rapidshare downloading is erratic?

Hi

Whenever I download something from Rapidshare the connection is always stopping and starting. For example, my download speed will shoot up to 400-500KB/s straight away but it will download a few MB's then pause for anywhere between 5-30 seconds (at which point I actually see the lights stop flashing on the router, when the connection is being used they flash) and then it will start downloading again.

It's very erratic, and it has been like this since about June this year although it was fine before that. I don't even know what could have caused the problem because it just started happening all of a sudden. If I want to download a file that will take 5 minutes (estimated time in the download window), it will usually take upto 10 minutes because of this stopping and starting. It's pretty random.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? And is it fixable?

On the very rare occasions I use rapid share (last time I used it was a driver fix or something...) I get it too.

I take it is because I'm using the free account, no idea though. Don't bother me though since I barely use it.

Does it for me. Wouldn't surprise me if that's one way how they limit their free access; that'll then entice you to pay for a premium/upgraded account.
