I just thought I would share some pics of me getting rappel qualified.

We have an ex-TACP (Tactical Air Control Party) in our comm squadron now after he fractured his skull on a jump and he is a rappel instructor. He thought it would be a fun day to take some of us who were interested to a rappel tower at our local police training facility and train us to rappel. In all honesty, us comm troops are never going to need to rappel but its a lot of fun.

Well four of us plus the intructor went out to the tower, learned how to make a Swiss Harness (required by the Army), learned how to use the gear and then hit the tower.

I was the first to go and my legs were shaking the whole time. Of the four that went three got qualified and I even went as far as to get qualified for Aussie style.

Now that I have done it all I want to do it get some gear and keep rappeling. Taking this class has just fueled my desire for being in the real military. Now I am thinking of taking up rock climbing, although there arent many places to do that in the middle of the desert.

The other plus is I met this hot new Airman in my squadron :D

Anyone else know how to rappel?

Here are some pics:

Airman is the term used to describe ANYONE in the US Air Force but for the record, she's are girl.

I guess the US calls it rappeling and everyone else has to be different and call it abseiling. And we didnt use a wall because whenever the US Army does it its usually from a helicopter and not the side of a building.
