Raptor Lake Leaks + Intel 4 developments

Only 8 big cores.... Intel sitll didn't solve it's core scaling past 8 cores, I'm wondering what their MCM design will look like in the future, AMD mastered it and don't have problem putting bunch of cores and retaining good yield.
Why do Intel need more than 8 big cores though? The big cores are sufficient for gaming + SC workloads while the small cores add the extra MT performance.

Looking at the specs there is no way Zen 4 will match multithreaded performance without increasing core counts especially on the ryzen 5 and 7 parts which already trail ADL by 40%.

AMD use chiplet design, they will increase cores, and they can match RPL with less cores cuz 1 Zen 4 core is much much stronger than 1 RPL e core.

Yep, games don't need more than 8 and they won't need more for another 5 years - in fact as of right now games don't need more than 6 cores

It is better to have 2 big cores than small 4 cores, lower latency, easier for developers to optimize software etc. This hybrid design is short term solution until Intel creates something like chiplets, then they will abandod those crap little cores, especially when 3d stacking cores comes, it will be easy to just add big cores.

Looking at the all round performance results between the 5800X and 12600k I'm not so sure.

Maybe Intel will increase the big cores slightly eventually but I cant see them dropping small cores altogether as it clearly works and infact I think it's more likely AMD will adopt small cores in the future also.

I know new stuff is always on the horizon but this is what, IMO, Makes investing into an Intel platform a bit annoying as it's only been 2 months since AL launched but there's already news of the replacement.

I believe AMD fans feel even worse. Zen 3 refresh is not even out, yet it's replacment is planned only months later.

At least with Intel on Z690, Raptor Lake is a drop in upgrade. Not so for Zen3 refresh to Zen 4.

Fans or users?

As an 11900K user, I have to literally laugh at your hypocrisy Dave. Brand new platform vs one that is 5 years old with 5 generations of CPU's are totally comparable, I guess only you could say that with a straight face. Let me know what CPU you'll drop into the 11900K system in 4 years time when it is 5 years old, or the LGA 1700 Z690.

Dave lives in a total fantasy world. It's not worth the effort.

It's OK I think he blocked me ages ago when I tried to educate him on what a 'real' PCIE lane was, and he was trying to tell me that a shared lane was as much use as a dedicated one. But I do realise he is totally deluded and really has no idea about the hardware industry as a whole and likes to try and promote FUD on the forums, which isn't great for those new comers who are looking for information.

He isn’t the only one. AMD has its own idiots on here. Really wish the mods would clamp down more on them all.

Having preference isn’t the issue. It’s those continually pushing an agenda as part of group and attacking others that disagree even in face of hypocrisy or idiocy. That seems to get up peoples noses.

I think I share the honour of being on Dave2150s block list. Atleast he never responds when challenged about some of the nonsense he posts.

I don't gey your point? It was the same when they dropped the XT last time and the choice is 1 additional CPU not a complete refresh (currently) and with that literally people using an A320 mobo with 5000 series CPUs and you want to make a point about one generation compared to 5 years previous, yeah okay

Has anyone perhaps thought that Dave loves the attention his posts get. Never responds to his statements in any meaningful way.

Considering his ignore list and those that have him on theirs, he sure does take up a lot of posts in this section.
