Raptor Problem - unable to recognize

So i've been using a 36gb raptor since 2005, and up until a few days ago things were perfect.

My raptor is now not recognised by my board (asus P5K). The BIOS doesn't see a thing and neither does windows. This all happened out of the blue after a BSOD and i have some data on there i need to get. Since windows can't see the drive, any recovery programs i've tried can't either.

Anyone got any ideas? I've tried different SATA ports but still to no avail.

Help appreciated, thanks.

No weird sounds at all, and i tried reseating both the cables and nothing. WDM doesn't recognise it either. Does it look like i'm screwed?

I can't hear it spinning up - are raptors supposed to be inaudible when they start?

If it's completely jammed, is it worth going through one of the data recovery companies listed on the western digital site? There's some data i could really do with on there, or i will have to spend days getting data that won't be the same again. I'm guessing an RMA will just wipe the drive and not fix my problem.
