I've just bought a Raptor 150Gb drive to go into a new rig, and I already have a Maxtor 300Gb SATA drive...

Can anyone please advise me as to how I should set these two up? I know next to nothing about RAID and HD configuration in general, so any and all advise is welcome. Especially regarding the physical connections and cabling I require.

N.b. The rig they are going is comprised of:

Asus P5W64-WS Pro Intel 975X (Socket LGA775) PCI-Express DDR2
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz
Gainward BLISS GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black

Thanks

You'll need to set the two drives up as single disks, they're too different to consider using any form of RAID on them.

Just wire them up to SATA ports 1 & 2 (or 0 & 1 if labelled that way), power them up using either the SATA power or Molex connectors NOT BOTH!! Then make sure that the BIOS has the SATA ports configured in IDE emulation mode, that way the Windows setup will reconise the disks without a driver.

I'd go for a 320Gb Seagate 7200.10, they're the fastest 7200rps drives available at the moment and the 320Gb is the best Gb/price ratio.

I'm not sure what you're planning but if you're going to have a Raptor as well then the Raptor is the drive to use for the OS etc and then just use the Seagate for storage.
