Rar help

A friend of mine sent me a cd with a rar file on containing some family photos but they are in a rar file and he has forgotten the password that he used when he made this disc some time ago.Is there any way of finding out what the password is or bypassing it with software?

Nope, RAR encryption (unlike XP's) is very solid

Your only hope is to use one of the many brute-forcers and pray he used a short common password. Failing that your buggered

Thanks for the reply,but can you give me an example of a "brute-forcers "thingy as i don't know what they are? :confused:

Help please,i hear a while ago that there was a program that would find the password one by one until it got the full word.If i could find this program and maybe get the first few letters then he may be able to remember it.

fyi you cant just get the first few letters, it is all or nothing

They just try each and every password rather than trying to find out the correct one, but if the password is say 5 digits, that already gives 60 million possible passwords and 7 digits means 78 billion possible passwords :eek:

Thanks for your input guys.He just phoned me and remembered the password all is good now.
