Got a file off my old pc of my aunties wedding and i put a password on it but cant remember it, anything i can do or should i bite the bullet and get yelled at?

I don't think there is a direct recovery method, only brute force/dictionary methods, depending on the password and the computing power at your disposal it could take days this way. After a little googling there is a program called 'RAR GPU Recovery' which utilises multi-gpu and multi-core systems effectively, might speed things up.

thought the password was somthing like qwertyuiop1234 but its not, i am forever doing this to games and the like! didnt think i would be stupid enough to do it to somthing important!

I've got access to Passware Kit which I'll stick it through if run out of other options.

Unless you can guess the password yourself, i doubt you will recover it. Anything longer than about 5 or 6 characters will take a ridiculous amount of time to brute force.

managed to find RAR GPU Recovery * removed * , if not im going to have to cough up real cash money for it! and thankyou Pho, (you paid like £300 for it???) people here much more helpfull than i thought!

If I were you I'd remove the name of that site, it won't go down too well

GPU recovery should be much quicker than the one I have, unless it's a fairly weak password
