I'm after an Canon 24-105 mm f4 L IS lens and it's proving to be near imposable to find in the UK I have tried about 10 different internet shops, is there a problem with them or are Canon just sending them all to the US :(
 
AFAIK, (if they are the new ones that came out with the 5D), they have been recalled due to a fault with them. :)

The flare issue was only on the first batch of about 1000. Its been fixed now and they're available. It just seems that they are very popular and have sold out at most places.

not sure if its good price or not.

That about £300 over the price i've seen but prehaps the cheaper shop don't have it in stock.

Yep best price I have seen it for is £690 (from Park Cameras) but it has been out of stock for weeks.

Dont really want to chance the import for Hong Kong option as I am worried that I might have problems if it goes wronge.

O well I will just have to be patient :D

Mine cost me £750 a couple of months ago from the only camera shop in Birmingham that had one in stock - they only had the one, which made the choice between that and the 17-40L I'd gone out to buy considerably easier :)

It's a great lens though, and the IS is dead useful, although it does seem to use a bit more juice.
 
I Think i'm dead lucky to get this to be honest, I phoned a shop that I new was quite expensive and they had had 5 deliverd this week 4 of them were reserved so just one left I asked the price witch was nearly £200 more expensive then most internet shops that I had seen the lens on so I said that they were well over priced and told them to check out .... Site, 10 mins later the guy phoned me to say they would match the price as I was buying a filter as well so got the whole lot for £760 includeing delivery

Result Well Happy :D

Now I just need to get out and about.............
 
nice choice! Have had mine for about a month now and the amount of detail this thing picks up is phenominal :cool: 24mm is no good for wide stuff unless you have the 5D though, which is why i have a 10-20m as well
 
Hmmm, this lens looks soooo nice! This thread has made me read several reviews and all of them are tempting me to spend!

Currently using the sigma 24-70mm f2.8 for walk about but finding myself limited by the 70mm and wanting to switch to the 70-200mm which is annoying, especially if you dont have all it with you!

Maybe by the time I can afford it they will be easier to get hold of...
