Raspberry Pi vs android box to Building a retro console, kodi plex which would be better ?

im thinking of building a media system for retro gaming and media (plex, kodi)

I was originally thinking of getting a pi but had a 2nd thought I maybe able to get more out of my budget if i get a cheap android box.


Has anyone managed this ?
what results did you get ?

I would have thouht a Pi setup would hard to beat in terms of vaule for money. Have you looked at the Nvidia shield? I'm not sure they fetch 2nd hand (that's even if they are available 2nd hand I don't know anyone who actually owns one beyond a few members of the tech press) but it might be worth considering.

My brother has a Nvidia shield but they have gone up in price since he got it, im not sure i want to spend 150+ at the moment.
