Hi all,

Been looking into making some little projects as Christmas presents for family members, I've seen a lot of talk about Raspberry Pi and was thinking of ordering some bits and making a few projects out of them to be portable gaming...

Has anyone had experience at doing this?

What can I put on a Raspberry Pi?

Are the later models better than the earlier?

How much would it cost for each one (Roughly)?

Thank you

I have used a raspberry pi as a media server and p*rn box. It can be used as a cheap AF computer for basic word processing or spreadsheets or for watching videos on KODI etc.
Overall it kind of sucks because it is soooo sloooow but it's so cheap you get what you pay for.

Pretty much anything, with some limitations. Various operating systems, games, media streaming stuff, etc

Yes, the later models are faster except the zero which is slow but cheap(er)

I got mine for $40 CDN (model 3B)

It is worth noting that at the moment the default operating system (raspbian) really really sucks. It's a lot like Linux and it doesn't have GPU acceleration for video playback in the OS through the browser. No netflix or youtube for you. There is no way AFAIK to play back netflix smoothly on the pi and youtube can only be watched smoothly through an operating system that supports GPU HW accel such as the KODI operating systems. It's all on their website.

Had a Rasberry Pi3 rev.b for a few months now and dabble with emulation. Just ordered a NESPi case for it and to finish off my all in one emulation box. Great little front end for it based on the SNES mini. Bargain really.
