My neighbour upstairs put out a window box with a raspberry plant in it that I took down the rubbish tip and threw away today. She told me today that it's a plant she brought from her old flat. It had been sitting next to the rubbish bins for a few days so I assumed it was an old plant she was throwing. All I noticed was a bunch of green leaves slightly sagging. So I offered to replace it. Bit annoying tbh. Anywhere I can buy a raspberry plant already planted in a window box under £20? Looking at ebay, raspberry plants seem to be sold as 5 or 10 bare rooted canes. I guess that's what I need and they just get shoved in some soil in the window box?

Try looking/ asking on Freecycle, I got a dozen raspberry canes that way.
Usually plant them between November and March.

You can buy them as bare root stock more common, or container grown, just plant it in the window box, it will grow..

mate, pound shops /home bargains/lidl etc will be selling them around now as it is the time to plant.. However you saying 'windowbox' means a container roughly 2 foot wide by about 5 inches with maybe 6 inch depth? In which case it's pointless, it'll never fruit!!! unless you water feed on to it everyday through the summer, and even then I doubt it!! To have any chance you'd need a decent trough, at least 3 or 4 foot long and a foot wide and a foot deep, and STILL feed like crazy all summer, after all that, you may get 3 or 4 punnets worth of fruit..!! if she likes growing fruit in window boxes, I suggest strawberries, which will do well if there is plenty of sun, water and some feed. Or, try some 'tumbling tom' tomatoes, again with a nice sunny aspect and some feed everyday.
