Rasplex or plexbmc

Hey all just after little bit of advice please. i came home yesterday after working away and wanted to watch a film with the Mrs last night and decided to use the plex app on the Samsung smart hub on the H6400 and it direct plays my smaller MKV 720 and 1080p movies with DTS but has to transcode the larger files with HD audio. And transcodes to PCM or Dolby Digital due to the tv limits and my soundbase. DTS sounds ok. But don't really want to transcode my larger movies with HD audio. PCM sounded ok and dolby digital was ok also. So i thought id try to plug my external HDD into my android box and play the files through KODI and they sounded great HD Audio sounded brill and the DTS sounded more fuller and crisper then it did on the TV the canton really sounded great. So my question is what is the difference between Rasplex and PLEXbmc i know one is kodi and the other home theatre and i know PLEXbmc would play anything i throw at it. Is they any advantages and disadvantages of either. Or they just the same but on different OS

Yep. Just wanted to know if they was any difference in performance like would i need to transcode with Rasplex or does it work simlar to plexbmc on kodi

Well if i was to run Plexbmc i would use my Android box which is quad core and if i was to buy the pi id buy the pi 3

i can direct play all files. But it struggles with higher Audio like HD-MA and trueHD due to the tv and soundbase it goes out of sync but its fine with the DTS audio

the sound is a lot better through kodi even the DTS audio sounds better more crisper and fuller
