Hello,
Used to use UKFSN and always had good service with them etc, then when i moved into a mates house he wa sstuck on a BT contract. Basically, im not going to pay for bt to FO so i can change ISP.

Im not sure who to go with as I have spotted that Virgin offer an ADSL2+ 20mb and Nildram offer a ADSL2+ 16MB service in my area, the only LLU providers are Orange and Talk Talk and they only go up to 8mb. I am not going to get 16mb speeds on my line so the max speed difference between nildram and virgin doesnt matter. No other providers I have found service my area on anything other than normal ADSLmax (or lower)

They both seem to have FUPs that im perfectly willing to accept. I have previously heard Nidlram are good, but then noticed that they are part of opal, which is part of pipex/tiscali.

Virgin i hear good things about, but thats mainly their cable/LLU services.

So, Does anyone know whats Virgins non-llu, non cable service is like, and also if Nildram are still any good? I'm talking ping times and download speeds at peak times. If not ill probably just go back to some enta based service, or pay out the ass and get a fluiddata line (j/k).

Are you sure it's VM ADSL? If it's via BT Wholesale then it's both dire and definitely not up to 20Mbps.

its virginmedia, its up to 20mb, its running on adsl 2+, and jsut costs a few pounds more than if you get the same package in one of their LLU/cabled areas. It only shows up on the site when you try to sign up and it tells you that you cant get there normal stuff. But yoru right about it running on BTW kit.

Knew it was hoping for pigs to fly with virgin being good on lowly adsl2 lol. Also now heard Nildram suck so im guessing ill go with an enta reseller or zen or something.

Its the Yeovil, somerset exchange incase anyone wants to check out whats available on it, not much, adsl2+ and only the worst two LLU providers I can think of lol.

Just found out adsl24 now do a 24mb service to my area, even though all of the other enta resellers dont, which is why i had assumed they didnt either. Looks like ill be going with them :)

The other Enta resellers should too - your exchange has the 21CN WBC stuff enabled, so BT Retail, AAISP, Enta and any other ISP using 21CN already should be able to offer an ADSL2+ service.

Presumably that's who Virgin Media and Nildram/Pipex/Tiscali/Carphone Warehouse are offering 20/16Mbps service via too. They're all up to 24Mbps services though.

yea i thought that all of them would too, but a few seem to not be, at least yet. I think it might be that either they just havent got around to it yet, or they are offering it only on LLU at the moment. Not to worry though, ADSL24 are good as far as i know, got a few mates on them so :)

Only going to get about 6-8mb on adsl2+ anyway but meh, every bit helps. I hate this house/exchange, was used to 8Mb with minimal noise etc in all of my previous houses :(
