Hi all,

My PC was in storage for over two years whilst I searched for a house. I have now bought a house and have come to the realisation my PC sucks. :)

So, with a budget of £1,500 I've drafted up this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Classified ACX Dual Bios 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (04G-P4-3778-KR) £347.99
1 x Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £239.99
1 x Asus Z97 Deluxe Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £194.99
1 x Samsung 500GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE500BW) £179.99

Are there any glaring mistakes? Would you make any changes?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Bit of XFire goodness

Mix it up a bit, heat may be an issue however :)
This has 16GB RAM, a 1000W PSU, Xfire 290s and moar

Good advice might be to wait a month and see what happens with the rumoured Nvidia updates too.

This would be a good bet too

I can't see from the link - how much memory comes with that mobo? :)

e: Ah, spotted it (mouse over). 8gb. Might add another two sticks for the hell of it :)

How much of an issue would heat be with the 290s? Heat is a concern for me. I'm also a bit of an nVidia fanboy - is that misplaced fandom these days?

Appreciating all the input! :)

Here's a frankenspec I've put together from the wonderful suggestions I've gotten in this thread :)

Should you get some extra fans I expect heat will... still be an issue. Just go a single 780Ti if heat is that much of an issue :) But if it was me, that SLI 290 setup I'd take anyday.

Don't get a wireless card, just get a dongle :) Less of a faff to setup etc
Will you be using Windows 8.1? If so, get a Corsair H105/Antec 1250 as Corsair Link has problems with windows 8.1

Fail yes, XFire 290s. You will get significantly better performance, but will you be gaming at 1080p? If so, a single 780Ti will be more than enough :)

1920x1200 on a single 24" screen. I hope to triple head in the not so near future, but will double up with something else when/if that time comes. :)

I've already got an external 2TB USB drive, as well as a 500GB drive on a media machine. I've dropped the 500GB SSD for the 250GB variant, keeping the 1TB. But then I am tempted to go back to the 500GB SSD and drop the 1TB. :)

Argh, choices choices! :)
