been thinking over an upgrade for a while and really am thinking of just pulling the trigger. So my current build is along these lines.

intel e2140 (will upgrade to q6600)
asus p5k vanilla (don't need deluxe features)
2x1gb crucial pc8500 ddr2
inno3d 8800GTX
creative xtreme gamer
thermalright ultra 120 extreme
corsair hx620w

will come to roughly £730 edit: oops, no more like £800 :)

how does it rate? Worth the money for the 8800GTX over GTS? (I run at 1900x1200 res) oh also is the stock cooler OK to use?

I'll be overclocking ofcourse.

Hmm, not sure to be honest, i would personally drop the gtx to a gts and the 620w psu to the 520w and get something a bit better in the mobo/cpu departments, this of course depends on when you will be upgrading the cpu, if its within the next few months then stick with this but i believe that cpu will bottleneck your gtx pretty badly

its on my mind to wait, but i really would like the build now since i got a lot of spare time right now. Longer I wait, less time I have :( Also I can't see much of that dropping over the next month or so? Bar CPU. Or am I wrong?

Like Sub said, get the 520W Corsair PSU will be plenty and change the RAM to the crucial stuff like suggested, also if you do intend to overclock its best and suggested to get an aftermarket cooler. Cheapest cooler i can recommend is the Arctic Freezer 7 pro which i personally use and find it great otherwise spend a little more and get a Noctua.

ive decided against getting the corsair and instead going for the silverstone op650 because it has an 8pin pci-express cable already as well as 2x6pin pci-express cables. So its a little more future proof, I hear g90 will need an 8pin?

edit: I hear the silverstone OP series may have a whine problem (as in makes a whining noise) pretty annoying. Gonna have to scrub that idea...

never had more problems than deciding what psu is the best priced to get.

Im thinking of just biting the bullet stumping up the cash and going for a thermaltake 1200w tough power. £160 though.
