So guys ive listed my car on ebay. I know some people will be in shock but theres not many places to list cars that don't give very good part-ex values. Is there anything i should add to help it sell? I hope this is allowed, the listing is here

Cheers

I'd stick that on Pistonheads. If I was in the market for a 996 Turbo I wouldn't be buying from Ebay.
Get some better pics up in a decent surrounding. If you don't have the means to take good pics yourself, find a mate with some skills and get him / her to do it for you.

Do people actually buy £35k cars off the bay?

I'm genuinely interested as I would never buy a car off eBay never mind something so expensive, tbh if I was in the market for a Porsche I wouldn't look much further than an approved used.

But back to the advert and tbh in my opinion I wouldn't entertain buying a car like that with the pictures you've provided (you have weeds growing through your block paving, if you aren't going to take care of them I would be wondering if your willing to pay the money to take care of something like a 911 Turbo).

Its a classified ad, you're not buying it "off the bay" you are buying it from the individual in the same way you would if you found the car in the Friday Ad, on a forum, Gumtree, Pistonheads, or Autotrader.

Its just a way of getting it out there for people to see.

I think rilot is right, ebay has its uses but it certainly wouldnt be on my list of places to look for a £35k porsche.

Also agree on the pics, plus a few more of the whole interior would be good (although maybe its just me that likes that in an ad)

In terms of the description i'd split the technical bits (eg the tyre tread details) into bullet points and have the standard "one careful lady owner" blurb as a seperate paragraph

I wrote more on a £700 Megane I sold last year.

It's £35k, don't leave "Well documented service and maintenance history" without following up with what that exactly is.

And yeah, pictures are tragic! :)

Unless of course you don't want to sell it, in which case the ad makes sense :D

tbh if I was in the market for a Porsche I wouldn't look much further than an approved used.
I doubt many dealerships are selling 996 turbos, and if they are they'll be those at the top end of the market c. (£60k)

Specialists would be where I'd be going, although in this instance they'll no doubt give a fairly poor price.

OK thanks for the input, I did wonder if taking pictures on the drive was bad idea. Are the 'angles' of the pictures OK? Also I do have it listed on piston heads as well but I don't think there's a hit outer so I've no idea how many people have viewed it. I did have everything itemised but someone at work said that's too much info and makes it look like a 'problem car'. If I was looking at the car I would want to see what had been done that's why I included so much info originally, I may put all the info back in. I did suggest to the Mrs that the running costs of 2 lids is more than the car but I think she thought I was joking. I might add a few more interior ones, but as its a 911 there's not really a whole lot of interior to take a pic of. Would a large empty car park do for pics?

The full listing was as follows

This is the facelifted version of the 996 turbo which includes a glove box and cup holders in the dashboard. The car is in very good condition both inside and out. The exterior colour is artic silver and the interior is black leather. The wheels are the standard hollow spoke 18” turbo twists. Front tyres are Michelin PS2’s 225/40/18 with 8mm tread. Rear tyres are Michelin PS2’s 295/30/18 with 4mm of tread. I’ve only ever use vpower to fill up with in my ownership time and it only gets revved past 3,500 once the car has got upto temperature and to aid cooling of the turbos I take it easy for the last mile or two of every journey. Regretfully due to growing kids I am forced to list my 911 turbo which I have owned since 2013. I would like to sell this car to a fellow enthusiast who will look after it as I have.

This is a very clean example and has no accident damage.

Optional Extras

Cruise control, Top tinted windscreen, Parking sensors, PCM (Since replaced with pioneer Avic F960bt which has navigation, Bluetooth with support for reversing camera and microsd card slot for music), Heated leather sports seats and stainless steel entry panels with model type face (no rust present). Is currently ‘sill naked’ as the kick plates are not attached (but are included with the sale). The centre console has been painted to colour match the exterior colour. Also has a certificate of authenticity from Porsche. Has been well maintained and anything that has required fixing has been done in a speedy manner and to a high level of quality.

Nobody will be covered fully comp on your car. Comp policies offer third party cover on other cars.

I much prefer a colossal amount of reading (so long as it isn't typical sales waffle) on a car I'm spending any money on than a brief overview.

Somewhat off topic, I'm wondering if this could become a dedicated "rate my listing" page? Not wishing to hijack your thread OP but seems like this question has been asked numerous times (including by me!)

Get it on pistonheads. I wouldn't sell a car worth more than 6k on eBay regardless if it's a classified ad your going to get lots of stupid messages and wannabe test pilots with a car like that

I’ve only ever use vpower to fill up with in my ownership time and it only gets revved past 3,500 once the car has got upto temperature and to aid cooling of the turbos I take it easy for the last mile or two of every journey.

Might just be me, but I don't think that's needed - sounds more like a typical comment for a low rent Impreza, rather than a looked after looked after Porsche.

Showing the full service history is important, given how much you have - as on a car like that I imagine most potential buyers will be asking "has X or Y been done" anyway.
