Hi folks - I posted a while back that my PSU went pop. Well I bought another PSU and then found that it had killed one of my drives (Raptor 36gb) and the via SATA controller on the mobo. That was all I needed to know - upgrade time for my base unit !!.

After some careful consideration I've bought the following :-

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 2 x 1gb
MSI P6N 680i motherboard
BFG 8800 GTS OC
WD Raptor 150gb OS Drive (already have 320gb data drive)
Corsair 520W modular PSU
Thermaltake Golden orb II (going back - does not fit !!)
Windows Vista Ultimate OEM

I already have optical drives.

With stock Intel hs & fan I can get just under 3.3ghz out of the cpu - quite impressive. I can also get approx 980mhz out of the ram at 4-4-4-12-T2 timings. I've not tried any oc on the BFG yet - will do at some point.

Opinions ? I would appreciate your thoughts.

I wish I got your RAM instead of my Geil stuff. Not had a chance to test mine yet but supposedly it has trouble going over 900 =/
