later on i will have a Dell 2407 non HC

what overclocking potential can i see from the quad and the 8800

That new system will easily last you 1 year, probably 2 depending on if you upgrade your monitor. Overclocking potential? Not so sure, but the Q6600 tends to be good for 3.2 - 3.4 Ghz normally, sometimes up to 3.9 Ghz as seen by a couple of people on this forum doing theirs.

One thing to note though, you're getting a 32 bit OS with 4GB of RAM... you'll not be able to use all of it because 32 Bit OS's only see up to 3GB - 3.5GB of addressable RAM space. To make use of the full 4GB you'd need 64Bit Vista.

Overclocking wise, depending on chip, you should have quite a bit of headroom, esp with that cooler. With having all 4 RAM slots taken up you may need to change the timings to let you get further with the overclock.

To unleash the full potential of the RAM (use all 4GB) you would need a 64bit OS, but that can be done in the future when the newer games come out, 3 and a bit gig should be easily enough for the moment.

The 8800s seem to clock pretty well too, with the stock cooler as it is pretty decent.

That rig should last you a while yet, which chipset is that mobo, as you will need a p35 chipset for native support of the new cpus that are coming out soon.
