I'm currently on the hardware in my sig, looking to upgrade.

My current thoughts..

- Need CPU / mobo / RAM / SSD / GPU.
- Would like i7 for hyperthreading
- Want 16GB RAM
- 120GB SSD approx, maybe could get away with slightly less
- GPU - don't want to spend silly money -- don't care about running e.g., BF3 in 1920 on max :)
- Currently using a Seasonic 600W PSU, would I need to upgrade?

Any spec advice for say, £700 region?

Thanks!

Looks good..and yeah the 2700K would be worth the very small amount extra.

Motherboards -- I need to do a bit of research here..there seem to be four different chipsets for S1155. Is it worth spending more for something like better sound or just for something rock solid? (Currently on an old second hand S775 maximus formula, which has been great).

yes I was going to edit to add it.

while the current psu should be fine would still be useful to know the full model so can check that it has the require connectors etc.
you will also need to look at the waterblock you're currently using, does it have mounting for 1155/1156(same mounting so if it says 1156 compatible it'll work on 1155) or will you need to change the water block?

I guess I'll go talk to myself

Sorry:)

Er looking at it in the case, it appears to be a 600HT (I bought it secondhand off here so not got any original packaging).

It's not modular which is a bit of a pain, but my case a Lian Li A70B so there's lots of space to hide cables:p
Waterblocks..yeah I will probably need a new one, but I'm putting that aside for the moment. Currently on a D-Tek Fuzion v2, which might fit with some drilling on the backplate, it looks like (from a quick search).

hmm I wonder why that looks familiar.... oh wait I've already suggested it ;)
but I guess my posts are meaningless so you mentioning it is new info for the op ;)

there may be lots of chipsets for 1155(well 4 h61, h67, p67 & z68) there is only 2 you need to worry about(p67 & z68), out of the 2 you're better off going for z68.

Thanks for the advice. I'll do some reading on mobos. I've always found them to be the biggest dilemma. E.g. the UD5 is on a big discount @ OCUK this week.

Oh sorry, I had in in a post but it possibly got deleted before submitting. Pretty unlikely to want SLI/xfire. Decent OC capability is more important, but if SLI/xfire support are there then that's fine :)
