402ci BBC V8 with various go-faster bits.
13.5:1 compression.
Nitrous.
TH350 gearbox with B&M shifter and 5000rpm stall convertor.
GM 10bolt posi 4.10:1 rear axle.
10.9sec @ 127mph in the 1/4.
Fully street legal.
Nice.

Not only is it street legal, it's actually useable day-in-day-out apparently. Nearly all of the standard interior is still there, the engine is very useable on the road as the cooling system is nice and beefy. It'll never be anything other than 'adequate' at corners, but I reckon the explosive acceleration in-between bends would make up for that :D

Best part?

Car is up for sale for $15k, I make that about £7800. Damn cheap for a car that quick.

Heh, 'tis a nice motor.....for a Chevy.

402 BBC (.060 over)
Steel Crank
Eagle H-Beam Rods with ARP bolts
Custom made JE Nitrous pistons 13.5:1 compression
Lunati Nitrous Cam 310-314 Duration 680/685 lift
GM Oval port heads with Oversize Valves
Polished Weiand Tunnel Ram with two 660 Center squirters and Hilborn StyleScoop
Nitrous oxide setup

Motor made 498 horsies @ the rear wheels without the nitrous :D

I'd kill for a car like this.

How do you think they would be for day to day driving.. Obviously not a vehicle with such power as this, but a nice example with a stock V8 engine in mint condish???

Friend of mine ran an Aussie Charger for a while as a daily driver, with a near-stock 318ci V8. He had no problems. My Olds rumbles around okay, despite the rusty panels, with a strangled 307. V8s tend to be very unstressed, very slow-revving motors and handle day-to-day driving with ease. I say "tend to be" - there are obviously some seriously hot motors, even from factory stock, that don't take too kindly to heavy traffic!

IainB - yeah, I did wonder about what he's fuelling it on with a c/r of 13.5:1....rocket fuel perhaps? Antimatter? Whatever it is, it apparently works for him....
