Hi all,

I’m looking for some new furniture outside, the websites I keep looking at never look massively genuine.

Has anyone bought anything rattan related lately, pics and where from?

Ideally looking for something that sits 6 and has a table for eating rather than a coffee table.

Cheers

Had mine 5 years ago now from Maze Living. Holding up very well - they are more expensive, and frankly ridiculous for things like sunloungers, but their sofa sets seem excellent.

@Andybtsn

A few offerings on costco atm...

Does it need to be rattan if you are looking for an outdoor dining set?
We bought this last year and it’s been great.

We had a rattan set but after 5 years it started to rust the steel inside and all the chairs have broken now at the 7 year mark. The plastic wrap on it all seems to hold the moisture so i've been quite unimpressed and wouldn't buy that style again myself.

This is ours, don't get it if it looks like this :P

Yeah, there's a huge difference in quality/price.

We (well me, my wife wanted better!) went for cheap from Tectake. This would fit your needs from the same range.

No-one is going to pretend it's a high quality product, but i found that to get something better you're at ~£2k and the ones around 1k didn't seem better enough. My main reasoning for cheap was due to where we live, there's loads of trees so it's constantly covered in bird poo/moss and for the few days a year it'd be used it did the job.

Afterthought - The main difference i found between cheap ones and expensive ones are the quality of cushions. Ours are fairly thin. Something to think about.

To also add - We bought in 2021 when stock was impossible to get. In ideal scenario we wanted the one from Ikea. That way it's modular to easy add stuff in the future or buy an extra cushion etc as the range never changes.

5 years doesn't seen that bad for something I assume you left uncovered outside?

Looks very similar to the set I got. Although mine has plastic adjustable feet.

A quck look underneath and it was pretty clear where it would rust if left. I sprayed all the welds and bolt holes with grease and I've kept it covered during the winter - and so far it's still looking in good condition.

Personally, I wouldn't buy steel garden furniture again. I've got aluminium garden furniture from IKEA at the moment and it's as good as new a few years on. Previous steel furniture hasn't lasted long before it looks tatty and rusts, even when stored under cover/she'd over winter.

Mine isn't rattan, but parents have some aluminium framed rattan furniture and that's as good as new too.

I got mine from groupon and they look great.

However, with one set I never put on the cover and over time - 5 years exposed to the elements - it has started to fall apart. Whatever you choose get a cover for those periods when it's not in use.

Have any of you guys had experience with the so-called 'weatherproof garden furniture'? Made from 'premium' rattan.
Is there any difference from standard rattan? I've seen some sets of this type of furniture on gardencentreshopping.co.uk, which I would say won't break the bank if it lasts as the seller claims.
