I've just finished a build in a RV-03 but due to a few issues with fans being broken and the front power led failing and also the top panel being more gray than black . it has to be RMA'd .
So now I am on the hunt for a replacement . I have it down to 2 either the RV-01 or the Phantom 630 . You might be thinking the RV-03 would put me off Silverstone but I put it down to a fluke . They both have the similar look with the raven being more extreme , and the Phantom being a normal layout internally . I like being different ,so the raven has got the edge on that front .Let me brake it down a bit .
I like the more extreme look of the raven, and the split level layout . But I don't like the psu placement . So I will take an idea from the raven 03 and mount it up front , in the 5 1/4 bays . All be it with a mod here and there. That will allow me to fit a dual 180mm rad in the bottom . ( when I've saved some pennies for a cpu loop )( then saved pennies for a new gpu and loop ) Also with the design being for max air flow cold air in the bottom hot air out of the top , it's great . my 03 , on air is around 27 idle and after 30 mins on prime it never went over 55 .
Regarding the Phantom there isn't a lot to say the internal layout is great and it looks awsome ,
I just can't help thinking it is a little bit to normal for my tastes. I like a challenge and the raven will give me just that . Also the satisfaction you get from saying " I done that , that used to over there and this used to be there "
With it being my first water cooled attempt am I better off playing it straight and going for the easy option with the Phantom ? Or go the whole hog and choose the Raven ?
So my question is what would you do and why ? Thanks for reading .
