raving monitor ?

hey guys i apologize in advance if i posted this in the wrong place today my screen was subtly flickering and going veeeery slighty burry and like half an hour later it started twitching like side to side and going blurry and back to normal. then it would go off and on again so i had a look around the internet to see what it was and people said it was a dying graphics card or something, gutted since i only got the card 4months ago i replaced the graphics card with an older one i had used previously and as im typing right now its starting to go blurry and flicker again :l i think its gonna get really bad like the other one.

the problem is not the monitor because i tried my xbox on it and there was no problems.

there was a power surge last night so could that have something to do with it?

umm the card i had in before was a palit geforce gt 430 and the one i got in now is a very old ati x700 SE or something like that.

when i go on the control panel and then hardware everything seems normal.

sorry if some of this dosnt make sense im trying to put as much info here as possible before it starts getting bad again its like trying to read a book in a rave flashing on and off but not like *blink* *blink* *blink* its more at random times and random lengths of time if you know what im on about

Did you use the same cable to connect the Xbox as you used for the PC?

If you used different cables it may be the one you use for the PC is faulty.

Try a different monitor cable.

Make sure you have nuked, got rid of all old graphics drivers and their folders. Set the graphics to standard VGA and reboot. Install a new set of AMD drivers.
