How well does OSX handle image files in RAW format, is it basically just a case of plugging in the camera and a tasks wizard pops up a bit like windows?

The OS has built in support for all the major RAW formats so it'll be able to read anything you throw at it. Depending on what you use you can do different things when you plugin a cam. You can have iPhoto load and import the images, or Aperture if you have that.

If you connect your camera, it will ask you how you want to import your photos, I would choose iPhoto as it can handle RAW files natively.

Another vote for using iPhoto - it's great with RAW files.

Its good, not great. Aperture is great (but slow) :D Anyone serious about RAW should be using something better really.
