Raw processing + Clarity?

I haven't been able to find a good explaination of this function online.

It looks like it gives micro contrast boost and sharpens the image up.

Are there any downsides to it? It seems to have a major effect on all photos I'm taking

Dont get too up on this slider. Yes it does do that but watch out it'll stick halos around everything and make things like your horizons look awful

Clarity slider adjusts the contrast of only the midtones, leaving the highlights and shadows untouched.

Negative clarity also works well on people shots as well. Just don't overdo it in either direction or else your photos can end up looking daft.

i find going one way a lil is good for portaits to soften a lil and other way when doing flowers/cars etc to bring out detail a lil.
but as said above just a bit is more than enough

Every now and again reset it and check that it's not looking too silly, basically reset your eyes to what a standard shot looks like. Have found myself going way too overboard sometimes when I hadn't had a break lol.
