Razer Abyssus Problem

Hi guys,

I've recently procured a Razer Abyssus seeing as my 1yr old decided to eat my razer lachesis.

The lachesis had two lights which could be disabled / enabled using drivers. When my system was switched off - All lights would turn off too (irrespective of driver settings) as a good mouse should.

My new Abyssus however - The razer Logo stays lit when my system is powered down! - Thought it might be the USB port - tried all of them, even tried a Crosshair Formula IV board and got the same issue!

there are no settings for switching the logo light off - probably Razers no frills approach to this "cheapo" mouse

Obviousy switching off at the mains switches the light off - but a powered down system just attracts my son to the mouse!

Anyone else have this problem? - I've emailed Razer and got the usual - try uninstall / install of drivers (LOL!) generic reply - awaiting something a bit more personal lol.

I think it's an issue with the USB ports remaining powered.

The lights on my Roccat Kone stay on when I shutdown my PC but I haven't bothered with it as I switch off at the mains.

Perhaps have a look at any settings for USB in the BIOS.

hehe, yea it's kinda hard to sleep with that light beaming on the celling.
as far as i know its ALWAYS on.
you could simply take off the feet/glides, unscrew it and open up the mouse.
carefully unplug the wire that connects to the top of the mouse - thats the wire which supplies the power to the LED.
pop the screws back in and stick the glides back on and you're all done!

I thought it might be an issue with the USB port being powered aswell- but then again - I didn't get this problem with my Razer Lachesis mouse - hmmm.

Hardware fix will defo fix it - but didn't want to void the warranty and start pulling apart something I just bought!

I'm sure its cus the mouse isn't recieving a power off signal from the driver or something.....Will report back if Razer come back with anything....

I know my mainboard supports charging from USB when the system is powered down - but this still doesn't explain why my Lachesis worked perfectly fine (i.e AlL lights on it switched off when the system was powered down)

Anyways, Razer Support have just been in touch - They reckon I've got a dodgy mouse lol and are asking me to return to my reseller

Does anyone have the same problem as me using one of the 890chipset Asus boards pls? thanks

Bringing up an old thread but I have the same problem.

Asus P6T Workstation Pro user.

Not tried updating firmware on mouse yet.

I have the razer abyssus and the light also stays on when PC is off.

Anybody found anything for this?

Strange that Razer doesn't supply some kind of software where we can turn it off. I know it exists with other razer mice
