Razer Copperhead left mouse cutting out - worn out?

Hi I bought a Razer Copperhead mouse and tonight the left mouse click has died. It responds with a hard click but if you lightly click the mouse like usual it does not recognise it, could the microswitch or something been worn out?

Is there anyway to get this fixed? It shouldn't have worn out already, granted it is a few years old but I thought it would have a longer life.

Razer support is terrible in my opinion, I had a Razer Lachesis with the same problem, I couldn't return the mouse, as they wouldn't accept the receipt I had, so I'm stuck with one knackered mouse.

As I couldn't return it, I open the mouse, only piece broken was the spindle for the scroll wheel, which also connected to the left & right mouse button, they wouldn't supply me with the part to repair mine.

I have just had a similar thing happen with my deathadder. The click still actually works as before but it misses around 1/3rd of the clicks so is very annoying to use in general, let alone gaming. It is probably about 2.5 years old, I am not a heavy gamer so will not be touching anything by Razer again!

Rather than getting in the usual kind of fight with the retailer I took mine apart to see if there was anything obvious, can't see any problem so guess the electrical contact must have worn.

Yep that's what has happened to mine. Such a shame as I thought it was a great mouse. Gonna have to get a similar well built alternative

Just ordered a Logitech G500. Been hearing good things about the company for a while both in terms of quality and support. No idea how similar/different it will be to the deathadder, should see on Friday.

Have received the G500 today, not done too much with it yet but initial impressions are very good. Feels like it is better construction than the deathadder and nicer to use generally.

Considering a new deathadder would have cost me £45 this is only £38. I am sure the new deathadder is better than my old one (higher DPI) but I have no regrets over trying the G500 so far. Other than the fact I wasted ~£30 for the old razerwhich didn't last anything close to an acceptable amount of time...

It's a common problem with razer mice. If you open it up and spray some WD40 on the left click it will be fixed. If not then it's a hardware problem.

If the plastic part that makes contact with the switch is worn this happens, got around mine by getting the pro tools pack for 6 or seven quid from elsewhere which had a spare top half, however I did bodge the other top by heating the plastic and just remolding the end flat again as if you disassemble it you will more than likely see a little groove worn into this piece of plastic that makes contact with the switch.
Is a pretty easy fix to be honest.

simlar thing happened to my lachesis, but i managed to fix it, by pushing the button up so it comes lose, then clicking it back down onto the switch

Same thing happened to my Deathadder, stupid double clicking and Razer weren't any use. A bit bitter about it really, they're not cheap. When it works, the Deathadder is brilliant, just not made that well. I still want to fix mine, I've had it apart to lubricate the microswitch, but the problem came back after a while.

I've had really negative experiences with Razer so I wish you the best in getting your situation solved. In my experience, as long as it clicks, it clicks, so they will not consider the item faulty.

Odd, I had an incredibly easy time getting my Deathadder replaced. I found their RMA to be one of the better ones.

I was asked to first contact the retailer, who wanted nothing to do with it (16 months old at the time), so went back to Razer, was sent a few generic troubleshooting ideas, and then was told that it was being processed for RMA.

The RMA itself was easy as anything. I quite simply got an email saying cut the USB and take a photo, showing the cut cable and the serial number. 2 days later a new mouse arrived at my door, with a fresh 3 year warranty

EDIT: If it helps, my issue was the double click problem (where it registers a single click as a double). This is the first help topic that comes up on the troubleshooting, so its clearly recognised as a widespread issue by them. However it had started to miss clicks sometimes too, I just didn't mention that :)
